With two frigid sentences, Fenerbahce breaks from Zil.
The final 24 words signaled the conclusion. Fenerbahce Istanbul, which acquired Mesut Zil from Arsenal in January 2021 as a new superstar, had nothing more to say to the player than two uninspiring remarks. The modification was later discovered to be a significant misunderstanding a year and a half after the transfer. Zil is leaving Fenerbahce after being suspended since last March.
It ends on a chilly note. "It has been decided that Mesut zil's contract with our club will be terminated by mutual consent. Mesut Zil has our best wishes for continued success in his profession, Fenerbahce said in a news release.

Zil's contract was set to expire in 2024, but Fenerbahce and the 2014 world champion were no longer friends. For his favorite team, the midfielder made just 31 appearances while scoring seven goals.
After a disagreement with Fenerbahce coach Ismail Kartal in March of last year, he has not been a member of the team since. After being replaced in the match against Konyaspor, zil is alleged to have abused his coach. The 92-time German international ultimately had to focus on his work and set aside his commercial issues, club president Ali Koc groused in November.

Basaksehir of Istanbul responded to Fenerbahce's press release shortly after it was made by spreading Tarkan's song "Break Your Bonds" on Twitter and linking to Zil. On Thursday afternoon, the move to Recep Tayyip Erdogan's preferred club was announced and made flawless.
The club posted on its website to welcome Zil to the team and wish him luck in the orange and dark blue uniform. At the signing event in Istanbul, Zil said, "I'm extremely thrilled." Zil has been offered a two-year contract, according to President Göksel Gümüsdag. But he demanded a one-year contract with a one-year option, with a second evaluation after the first year.

Gümüsdag, the club's manager in Basaksehir, is related to the Erdogans through marriage. Erdogan and Zil are great friends as well. He left the German national team in 2018, with a shared photo with Erdogan serving as the catalyst (from which the football player did not remove himself). Zil gave the following explanation for leaving Fenerbahce: "One of the things that make life is that it is full of uncertainties. Sometimes our plans, dreams, and desires don't turn out the way we had hoped.It was always my boyhood dream to play for Fenerbahce, so I wanted to be successful in achieving that goal.
