Transfer: Xavi informs a Barcelona star that you are no longer a member of my team.

Frankie de Jong has been informed by Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez that he is no longer a member of his team.

The player's transfers are claimed to have been agreed upon by Barcelona and Man United, but the Netherlands international is hesitant to leave Camp Nou.

The club wanted Frenkie de Jong to depart, but he hasn't approved the transaction yet, according to the Associated Press.

For the 25-year-old De Jong, United is rumored to have agreed to pay Barcelona 75 million euros ($75 million) and a further 10 million euros in potential variables.

According to an official from Barcelona with knowledge of the arrangement, Xavi Hernández has informed De Jong that he "will not be a significant part of his squad" if he does not depart.

Before the club departs on Saturday for a preseason tour of the United States, Barcelona wants the trade completed.

The club representative claimed that De Jong's wage was no longer in line with Barcelona's new financial priorities, which are now facing some financial difficulties.

De Jong transferred to Barcelona in 2019 from Ajax for 75 million euros (at the time, $85.5 million).

Frenkie de Jong was seen as such a generational player in January 2019 that Josep Maria Bartomeu, the president of Barcelona, spent money the team didn't have to get him.

Bartomeu scheduled a face-to-face meeting with the Dutchman before boarding a last-minute aircraft to Amsterdam. In the midst of a massive transfer saga in which the Catalans defeated Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, it stopped De Jong from departing for France.

De Jong was offered for €75 million (£63.5 million), with an additional €11 million. In a roster that is already overvalued, Barca gave him a gross salary of €14 million.

That was not De Jong's issue, but it does help to explain why, three years later, his ability to play box-to-box or the grace with which he glides past opponents while the ball is still on his feet is not what will determine how far he advances in the club.

His future now depends on La Liga's salary caps and financial fair play regulations, as well as the pressure to renegotiate his contract.
