The National Democratic Congress's (NDC's) general secretary has cited actions done by the NPP government's economic management team as the cause of the present economic difficulties.

His remark is a response to Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia's claim that former President John Mahama is partially to blame for the current economic difficulties.

Johnson Asiedu Nketia said that the economic management team's leaders are "those who have given this devastating outcome" on Thursday's episode of JoyNews' The Pulse.

He went on to say that these economic managers "are individuals who insist on justifying their actions when they know that their policies are responsible for taking us this far." In a previous lecture at the Accra Business School, Vice President Bawumia stated that some of Ghana's present economic difficulties stem from 'The previous government' is to blame for the problem.

The "quadruple whammy" of the economy's current position, according to Dr. Bawumia, is comprised of excess capacity payments, the banking sector crisis, COVID-19, and the Russia-Ukraine war.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia responded by saying, "If after 6 years in government, predecessors are blamed, then you have no notion as to why you entered the election to become the leader in the first place."

The Vice President was questioned about when he first learned of the numbers that were included in the vice president's address. Asiedu Nketia: NPP alone to blame for present economic problems. When he was bragging about having created a better economy, was it prior to 2020 or before 2018?

He further mentioned that Ghanaians no longer have faith in the government as a result of the false hopes raised by the Akufo-Addo administration prior to taking office.

This, he said, explains why there have been so many recent labour agitations around the nation. He thinks the NPP need to be removed from power.
