A grand opening ceremony served as the formal opening of the Banahene Specialist Hospital, which offers both general and specialised healthcare services.

The specialised hospital is situated at Tema Community 18 in the Tema West Municipality and was created by identical twins Ebenezer and Emmanuel Banahene.

The hospital offers general health services like the general outpatient department (OPD), antenatal services, laboratory services, as well as specialist services in fertility, gynaecology, paediatrics, surgery, ophthalmology, and many other fields. It also has cutting-edge equipment and highly qualified specialists and health workers.

Numerous dignitaries, including Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, the Member of Parliament for Tema West, Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi, the President of the National House of Chiefs, and the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso, were present at the inauguration event (CEO) Akwasi Agyeman, of the Ghana Tourism Authority.

The younger twin, Emmanuel Banahene, gave a description of their lives and how they came to the decision to establish the hospital. He claimed that growing up, life was very difficult and that at one time, he almost died from measles.

He claimed that while the two went to Opoku Ware Secondary School, life was quite difficult for them, particularly after their father died.

He claims that after receiving admission to the University of Ghana, Legon, the older twin was forced to leave school in order to support himself through labour and his schooling.

Along the way, he claimed, a friend suggested them to go and apply for a London visa. He added that the two prayed intensely despite knowing that they had no chance of success, and ultimately they were granted a visa.

"We begged to God that if he would provide us success and prosperity, we would go back to Ghana to rescue lives, and God kept his end of the bargain. This hospital was created for such purpose. We are keeping a promise we made to our God, he remarked.

Keep the business going

The Banahene twins, who are from his traditional territory, were praised by Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi for advancing the nation's healthcare system and elevating the Sefwi region.

However, he issued a challenge to the hospital staff to put in more effort and diligence in order to secure the twins' investments, which would allow them to grow and hire additional staff.

Mr. Ahenkorah, for his part, commended the Banahene twins for constructing the hospital to enhance local residents' access to healthcare and for investing in his district to create jobs for residents.
