The top 20 biggest transfers in Europe in the 2022 summer transfer window
The top 20 most expensive players this summer so far are listed here, although there will be plenty of movement before the window closes.
With add-ons noted, players are ranked according to the size of the initial cost.
1) Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco to Real Madrid for £68.3 million (plus £17 million in add-ons)
Real countered the ferocious Premier League interest from Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United by making a potential £85.3 million bid to Monaco. PSG was also interested, but they withdrew when it became apparent that the 22-year-old was only thinking about Real. Monaco will profit by just about £70 million after purchasing Tchouameni from Bordeaux in January 2020 for £16 million.
2) Darwin Nunez from Benfica to Liverpool: £64 million (plus £21 million in add-ons)
By signing a contract that may be worth up to €100 million if Nunez activates all the add-ons, Liverpool made a decisive move to sign the Portuguese league's top scorer from the previous campaign. Once Nunez has made 60 appearances, the Reds will be responsible for the first £12.8 million in additional payments, with £4.3 million due after just 10 matches. Before you even take into account the additional £8.5 million that is tied to individual and team performance, Nunez will surpass the 60-appearance mark and become Liverpool's most expensive player ever.
Erling Haaland 3)
Manchester City will pay £51 million to Borussia Dortmund.
Mino Raiola negotiated a clause in Haaland's Dortmund contract that made him available for £51 million this summer, giving City a great deal. The champions' tab for Haaland will reportedly equal £85.5 million if representational fees are taken into account; Alfie stands to earn a few pounds.
4) Richarlison Everton to Spurs: £50 million (plus £10 million in add-ons)
In order to complete the transaction in time to be recorded in last season's accounts, the Toffees accepted the Spurs' offer. As a result of including a sell-on clause when they sold the Brazilian in 2018, Watford might also make roughly £2 million.

Leeds to Barcelona: £49 million (plus £7.6 million in add-ons)

Chelsea to Manchester City for $47.5m
Chelsea is thrilled to have acquired Sterling from City, but it also signals smart business on the part of the champions, who essentially received their money back for the winger despite the fact that he had just one year left on his contract.
Gabriel Jesus (no. 7)
Manchester City will pay £45m to Arsenal.
Additionally, City paid top dollar for a player in free agency who was far from guaranteed a spot in Pep Guardiola's squad. When City had no strikers in the previous season, Jesus found it difficult to be a regular, thus the additions of Haaland and Julian Alvarez would have further reduced his playing time. However, the trade has delighted Arsenal, so everyone is content. That's nice.
8) Manchester City paid £42m (with $3m in add-ons) for Kalvin Phillips to leave Leeds.
Fair play to the City. By adding Haaland and Phillips for roughly what they earned for two players who were a year away from leaving for nothing, they have significantly bolstered two important areas. And the sensation endures.
9) Federico Chiesa Fiorentina to Juventus - £34m (plus £6m add-ons)
After a two-year loan that cost Juve £8 million, they were forced to purchase Chiesa this summer. If the winger accomplishes specific objectives, the Old Lady may wind up paying as much as £42 million.
10. Vitinha Porto to PSG for £34 million
When he was at Wolves, the midfielder didn't exactly have the appearance of a player worth £34 million. PSG already forked over the same amount they did for Vitinha when they used their option to permanently sign Nuno Mendes from Sporting Lisbon after trying before they bought with a loan last season. The left-back competed in 37 games for PSG and only came in second place to William Saliba for the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Season honor.
12) Karim Adeyemi left RB Salzburg for Borussia Dortmund for £32.14 million.
There are few details available about the deal's specifics, but Adeyemi was Dortmund's third addition to a summer of radical change that saw them hire a new coach and bring in Sebastien Haller, Nico Schlotterbeck, Niklas Sule, Salih Ozcan, and a few free-agent goalkeepers.
