Breel Embolo Monaco’s top attacking target

Foot Mercato are reporting that Borussia Mönchengladbach forward Breel Embolo (25) is Monaco’s top target as the club look to further bolster their attacking options, having already added Takumi Minamino (27) to their arsenal. Foot Mercato also rubbished reports in Italy, which state that Andrea Belotti (28) is set to join the Principality side on a free transfer. Embolo, who only has one-year remaining on his contract at the Bundesliga club, has decided not to active the extension clause within the contract. As a result, the Swiss international forward could be available for as little as €10m, although Mönchengladbach could yet demand a fee of around €15m for the attacker, who made 29 league appearances for the side last season and scored 9 times. Lyon had maintained an interest in the player, but that interest has significantly diminished since the return of Alexandre Lacazette (31) to the club. Having scored 6 goals in his final 8 matches of last season’s Bundesliga campaign, and in search of a new challenge, Paul Mitchell sees Embolo as a great opportunity to further strengthen ahead of a long season in which the club hope to compete in the Champions League. Report: Club eye 'terrific' West Ham target after £17m Liverpool star signs

Photo by Lukas Schulze/Getty Images AS Monaco are reportedly interested in signing rumoured West Ham target Breel Embolo, with the Ligue 1 side looking to add to their attack following the arrival of Liverpool star Takumi Minamino. According to Foot Mercato, the UEFA Champions League side have made the Swiss international their top target for the summer with Monaco keen on improving their frontline for next season, with Embolo set to depart Borussia Monchengladbach this summer. The 25-year-old has been one of the most consistent forwards in the Bundesliga for some time, and Monaco are now keen to sign Embolo despite interest from West Ham, who have been chasing the versatile forward for some time as per 90min as David Moyes also looks to improve the Irons’ attacking contingent. Michail Antonio still remains West Ham’s sole striker, and although Jarrod Bowen hit double digits last season in what was a breakout year for the England international, the east London side still need more in their attack, which is why Monaco’s interest in signing Embolo is such a blow. Indeed, the Swiss star was labelled as ‘terrific’ by Don Hutchinson during Euro 2020, with Embolo one of the stars for a Switzerland side who stunned the tournament by eliminating France from the competition, with the forward following up this international tournament with a sold year for Gladbach.
