They said the area has turned into a ghost town as most of the youth have left to seek greener pastures in and around Kumasi.

Samuel Fordjour, Assembly Member for Wiriso Boankra Constituency, said they have started processes to obtain the necessary permission from the police administration to register their protest against the government's decision to delay the project for over a decade.

The idea of ??the Boankra Integrated Logistics Terminal project has been brewing since the administration of the 2nd President of the 4th Republic, John Agyekum Kufuor. When trying to implement it, it encountered a number of problems, the most significant of which was the departure of the NPP government in 2009.

The President on Thursday, November 5, 2020, after cutting the sod for the construction of the port, explained that the Boankra Inland Port project was launched to serve importers and exporters in the central and northern parts of the country as well as act as a major channel for efficient transportation of transit traffic to and from our neighbors the landlocked countries of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.
