Alex Collado to sign a new deal with Barcelona
Alex Collado is to sign a new deal with Barcelona. The midfielder, who was talked out of retiring by Barca president Joan Laporta last summer, will sign a new deal to 2024. Collado spent the second-half of last season on-loan with Granada after not being registered to either the senior or Barca Atletic teams. Barca coach Xavi is counting on him this season. While he has played primarily as a winger, Xavi sees Collado as a midfielder. Need a VPN? Or seeking to switch? Xavi makes brutal Barcelona transfer calls amid Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha decisions
Barcelona look set to continue their busy summer transfer window with the signings of Raphinha and Ousmane Dembele, while a number of players could be set to leave Video Loading Video Unavailable The video will auto-play soon8Cancel Play now Premier League transfer update Xavi is reportedly set to brutally tell three Barcelona players to leave the club, should they complete deals for Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha over the next few weeks. The Catalan giants have already been busy in the market this summer having completed deals for Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen - the pair joining on free transfers from both AC Milan and Chelsea respectively. The signings do not look likely to end there, though. Barcelona have long been linked with a swoop for Leeds United star Raphinha amid competition from Chelsea. It was suggested that the Blues had agreed a fee with Leeds for the Brazilian’s signature but a deal seems no closer to being done, with reports suggesting that Raphinha is prioritising a move to the Camp Nou. The club’s dire financial situation has put the move in doubt, with Barca also struggling to renew Dembele’s contract. The French winger finds himself out of contract having seen his deal expire. Whilst negotiations have been ongoing for some time, recent reports have suggested that an agreement has finally been found, although Barcelona have not yet confirmed an extension to his stay in Spain. Should those two deals be rubber-stamped, the Catalans will look to move on a few of their current players. First on the list, according to Mundo Deportivo, is former Manchester United flop Memphis Depay. He made 37 appearances in all competitions during his debut campaign with the club, scoring 13 goals. The 28-year-old fell out of favour due to a combination of injuries and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s arrival and looks likely to have fewer opportunities next term, with Barcelona continuing to pursue the services of Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski. Depay is unlikely to be short of admirers should he decide to leave, with Antonio Conte’s Tottenham linked with a swoop. He could be joined by youngsters Alex Collado and Ez Abde in quitting the club this summer. Collado - a graduate of La Masia - has only ever made two appearances for the Barcelona and spent last season out on loan at Granada. Abde, meanwhile, only joined Barcelona from Hercules last summer and made 12 appearances in all competitions following his arrival, but could be on the way out already. Should the pair quit the club, then they could follow the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Clement Lenglet in leaving this summer - the pair having joined Premier League sides Aston Villa and Tottenham respectively.
