COMMENTS TO POSTPONE NPP ELECTION SMACKS OF IMPUDENCE – FREDDIE BLAY

The Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party has defended the party against accusations that it should delay its national executive election.

The country's present economic problems were brought up by the critics. They said that a postponement would demonstrate understanding of the difficulties of the average Ghanaian as a result of the current economic difficulties. Freddie Blay, however, has disregarded the recommendation. Such remarks, he added, are not serious and "smack of impudence."

Sulemana Braimah, executive director of the Media Foundation for West Africa, argued in a Facebook post on Wednesday that it would be disrespectful for the NPP to host the event under the present turmoil.

He claims that the delay will demonstrate the government's sympathy for the challenges Ghanaians are now facing. In response, Freddie Blay said that Mr. Braimah's viewpoint wouldn't be taken into consideration since party elections are different from general elections.

He continued by calling Mr. Braimah's viewpoint "intellectual propaganda." He truly doesn't know what he is talking about when he says that the government doesn't order a party to have elections. He stated his view; it is what it is.

Peter Mac-Manu, the NPP's chairman of the elections committee, says the party is prepared for tomorrow's national executive election, which will take place at Accra Sports Stadium. He stated that in order to fix any last-minute issues prior to the election, the party is now engaging with all candidates.

"Everything is proceeding as planned as the different canopies are being constructed across the Accra Sports stadium. We sent the Electoral Commission yesterday what NPP insiders refer to as the "delegates album" or the "register with the delegates," the man informed JoyNews.

Before the polls on Saturday, 6,000 or so party delegates have already gathered in Accra. A new Chairman, General Secretary, National Organizer, and other important offices will be chosen by the delegates, and their jobs will be to break the eight in 2024.
