*I got my image from a great thread on Twitter but I don't remember the account I'm supposed to credit. Dedicated to my fellow procrastinators! ?

Hiiii cupcakesssss!

It's the 15th? How are we doing??? I hope we're all staying safe. This pandemic is still very real, and so is its more evil, shall still remain nameless twin. Observe all safety protocols, unless you absolutely can't, because your life truly does depend on it.

On to todayyyy,

Honestly, I didn't know what to write for this month. I tossed about with either sharing personal experiences or talking about something in society(endlesssss content treasure trove??), but every idea popping up wasn't giving me the right vibes soooooooo, here's (hopefully??) an excerpt of a short fiction piece. Enjoyyyyyy! ?

*************

Nothing like a good, old-fashioned cool, windy day to be snug in a hoodie, reading a Zilsy Douglas novel surrounded by your best buds. Such peace, such tranquillity, such...

"Kenzi, he's watching you....againnnn", my overly hyper best friend, Kiki, says.

Ughhhhhh. I burrow my nose deeper into the book I'm reading and pretend I didn't hear her.

"Kenziiiiiiiii", she shakes my shoulders to force my attention unto her.

I lift my head, half-reluctantly and totally annoyed. "Stop doing this"

At this point, our whole squad has stopped what they have going on and is focused on our interaction.

"I'll stop when you give him a chaaaaaaa....aaaaance", she sing-songs playfully.

"No"

"I always wondered why you dislike Kuuku so much. What happened??" our good friend, Akweley, asks. Kobby, Fiifi and Frema cork their ears expectedly. They must have heard this story a hundred times (from Kiki), but they always love yet another chance to psychoanalyze my life. Akweley is newer to our group, so she hasn't, but I really don't have the patience for this.

"I don't want to get into it."

"Well, if she won't do us the honours, buckle up", my traitor of a best friend smirks gleefully. " It was about 5 years ago. Kenzi was madlyyyy in love with Kuuku and.."

"Oh, really?" a warm voice that irritated the core of the essence of my soul interjected. So why was I blushing? Kiki beams at Kuuku's presence as I pointedly ignore him.

"Oh yessss! She used to scribble your name on the back of all her notebooks with hearts and red ink, and when you were partners in science class, she'd inhale your cologne after class if you wrote in your assigned project journal that day and then, one... "

"That's enough!" my voice comes out sharply. I see the amused faces of our friends, including Kiki, pale. She must have exaggerated the story like this a thousand times, and I'd never reacted like this before. Then again, I don't know the last time she told the story in the offender's presence.

"Kenzi, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to.."

"What are you doing here?" I glare at Kuuku, ignoring Kiki's fumble of an apology.

"Sema, I just want to talk to you. I'm trying to..."

"Don't call me that! And  I don't want to talk to you."

I tighten my hoodie and stand up from our table.

"I'm so sorry, Kenzi. You know I wouldn't have..." Kiki tries again.

"It's fine. You can tell Akweley the rest. I just can't be here right now. Excuse me, guys."

I walk away from the table and especially Kuuku.

I get all of 5 minutes away when his voice stops me near the Park entrance.

"What a party pooper!"

"Excuse me??" I turn and glare at Kuuku's adorably dimpled(when he's not even trying) but still annoying face.

"What was that back there? Your friends didn't deserve their fun to be shat on like that. Especially Kiki."

Their fun???! About my life?! I was beginning to boil, but I wouldn't give this prick the satisfaction.

"My friends, my business!" I said coolly and turned to walk away.

"Oh, no, you don't" he grabs my arm and manoeuvers me to the nearest secluded park bench. My reflex reaction is to slap him, but I'm a civilized human being, so I settle on gritting my teeth. I refuse to sit down when we get to the bench.

"What do you want from me, Kuuku?"

"Please sit down, Sema, and let's.."

"I told you not to call me that!! Seriously, I'm leaving in 5 seconds if you don't tell me what.."

"I want to know what crawled up your ass 5 years ago! I want to know why we aren't friends anymore. Will you stfu so we can talk?" he growls.

I see red.

*************

The end?. Honestly, cupcakes, I'm just as invested in this story now. We both don't know how it'll end. I'll leave it to your imagination, or better yet, finish the story and post it on my WordPress (https://cupcaketeee.wordpress.com/). See you thereeeee.

Dear fellow procrastinators. It's been a month. How are we doing? On my end, there's been some improvement, but the bad days are still far too many. You too, huh? Don't worry! God on our side, we've got this!!!?

Also, in the course of writing this, I cooked up a lil' sum'n sum'n? It'll come out very soon or

Till August?,

~RSTee??.
