The transfer market is a very complex place, and clubs are very conscious of the players' transfer fee and the likelihood of success as they attempt to close deals for the players they desire. While some players have proven to be instant successes at their new teams, others have needed one or two seasons to adjust, while still others have never been able to adjust and have failed miserably. Here are the top 20 worst transfers in football history, without further ado:
1. Antonie Greizmann - From Barcelona to Atletico Madrid (2019)
After the Catalans were delighted by his goal-scoring prowess with Atletico Madrid, Antonie Greizmann transferred from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona in 2019. *However, the Frenchman was unable to replicate that success with Barcelona as he only managed to score 35 goals in 102 games for Barcelona before he was loaned to Atletico Madrid at the beginning of last season.
2. Eden Hazard - Chelsea to Real Madrid (2019)
Eden Hazard established himself as one of the most feared attackers in the world when he moved from Lille to the English Premier League to play for Chelsea.
After a largely successful stint with the London side, he decided to join Real Madrid but his transfer to the Spanish La Liga hasn't really worked out as the Belgian's time at the club has been plagued by injuries.
3. Philippe Coutinho - Liverpool to Barcelona (2018)
Philippe Coutinho joined Barcelona after spending five years with Liverpool and establishing himself as one of the most feared attackers in the English Premier League.
His transfer to Barcelona was nothing to write home about as he only managed to score 24 goals and provide 13 assists in 105 games. He was loaned to Bayern Munich and Aston Villa during his time at the Camp Nou and he currently plays for the latter after he joined them permanently at the beginning of the current summer transfer window.
