Ten Best U21 Players in Europe in 2021/22 Based on Goals Contributions
While some young players had breakout seasons last year, for others it was just business as usual. Many young players made an impression for their respective clubs throughout the 2021–2022 season. Attacking players who were 21 years of age or younger at the start of the season made up the majority of the players that stood out.
Last season, Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid was the most impressive U21 player. The Brazilian had his best season at the Santiago Bernabeu, when he and Karim Benzema led the team's assault.
He finished the previous season as Real Madrid's second-highest goal scorer and contributed to the club's victories in the 14th Champions League finals and the Spanish La Liga. Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 1-0 in the championship game thanks to his game-winning goal.
Vinicius Junior was the top U21 player in Europe last season based on goal contributions after scoring 22 goals and dishing out 20 assists in 52 games.
Erling Haaland, a current Manchester City standout, finished last season as the second-best U21 player in Europe.Despite missing much of last season due to injuries, the Norwegian star was still able to contribute 5 assists and score 27 goals in 29 appearances.

‘Key players need to play’ – Tuchel reacts to N’Golo Kante’s absence
During his preseason tour of the US, Thomas Tuchel had brought a 29-man team.
In preparation for the club's preseason tour of America, neither N'Golo Kante nor Ruben Loftus-Cheek were included to the roster.
Anyone wishing to enter the US must comply with the Covid-19 vaccine requirement, according to current regulations.
While the rest of the team battles it out in the US, Loftus-Cheek and Kante will stay at Cobham since they haven't had the vaccination.Due to their Covid vaccination status, N'Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek will not travel, Chelsea said in a statement.
Thomas Tuchel, the Chelsea manager, is dissatisfied that Kante will miss the most of preseason play.
Kante is an important player for the team in Tuchel's eyes, and the coach would have preferred that he enjoy a successful preseason with his teammates.
"N'Golo Kante knows what the preseason is all about, and it provides us the chance to develop him extremely individually, especially for him," he stated.N'Golo Kante is looked after by coaches in London, and because he participates in both the Under-23 and Under-19 training sessions, he also receives team training.
"N'Golo Kante needs to play for longer stretches of time. This is how we are now handling things since he is one of our key figures and key players need to be on the field in order to be important players.
