McTominay says stars should own up to fault for last season's rut

Scott McTominay concedes Manchester United's stars need to acknowledge their portion of the fault for the club's downturn last season which has 'hit a sore spot' among the crew.

An immensely frustrating effort cost Ole Gunnar Solskjaer his position at Old Trafford, and finished with six losses in the last 10 games as break manager Ralf Rangnick battled to turn it around.

McTominay acknowledges the players shouldn't get away from analysis for United's most terrible season in the Premier League period as they hope to quickly return under new supervisor Erik ten Hag.

'You're playing for Man United, you will get censured,' said McTominay.

'Assuming that you believe you will come and play for Man United and you won't get a tad of analysis to a great extent, then you're in some unacceptable occupation since that is simply not the way in which it works at this football club.

'Perhaps you really want to have a little search in the mirror since that is simply a vital part of the game. Everybody gets reprimanded, that is the world we live in. Web-based entertainment analysis: you just see it to what lengths you will go for see it. That is an integral part of it also.

'Talking about that last season is clearly troublesome. It hit a sore spot as far as when we talk about it again collectively.

'It's not overall quite that is became the inspiration now to return everything to typical and go for prizes again under the new chief, since I realize that this crew is more than fit for doing that.'

McTominay was talking at the MCG where United beat Melbourne Victory 4-1 on Friday to enroll consecutive wins on visit following their 4-0 destruction of Liverpool in Bangkok.

Ten Hag is satisfying his standing as a hard drill sergeant, however the players are becoming involved with his way of thinking thus far it is paying off.

McTominay added: 'The director's norms are high so you must become accustomed to that, which is perhaps somewhat unfamiliar for certain players. They must ensure that all that they do on and off the pitch is as well as could be expected.

'He's extremely clear in gatherings what he believes us should do and how he maintains that us should move toward the games also. Clearly for us you should accept that message.

'The manner in which he peruses the sport of football and how much information he has about a round of football, we can take such a great amount from him.

'We've had a few extreme pre-seasons however this is up there with quite possibly of the most troublesome one. In any case, it's gathering, it's getting miles in the legs and it's getting everyone acclimated with the volume of work that we're needing to do.

'That is presumably most significant as far as coming towards the beginning of the time, that we throw a tantrum and flying, and a youthful group too may I say.'
