The biggest signing of the summer is official as Robert Lewandowski joins Barcelona
Following Bayern Munich's confirmation of the news on Saturday afternoon, Robert Lewandowski is now a member of the Barcelona team.
The Bundesliga club released a statement stating that they and Barcelona had verbally agreed to trade Robert Lewandowski, putting an end to the controversy surrounding the Polish striker.
Fabrizio Romano claims that Bayern will receive €50 million in add-ons from the La Liga heavyweights, with the personal details having already been settled upon months ago. According to reports, the 33-year-old only wanted to sign with Barca this summer, and the striker can now begin a new chapter at Camp Nou.Oliver Kahn, CEO of Bayern Munich, commented on the deal for Lewandowski with Barcelona in a club statement.
We've decided to let Robert Lewandowski go. Although we and FC Barcelona have a verbal understanding, no contract has yet been signed. We are fully aware of the things for which Robert is to be thanked, but great players have also left FC Bayern in the past, and even then, the world did not end for Bayern. On the contrary, it frequently went on to have even greater success.
Lewandowski will now travel to America to begin preseason with his new teammates as the Spanish club gets ready for their Wednesday match against Inter Miami. Whether the Polish superstar participates in that game is unknown, but it can be said that Barcelona has made the biggest signing of the summer by luring the finest striker in the world to Spain.
