Tottenham, Everton target Kim Min-jae transfer preference revealed as Napoli look to strike deal

Serie A giants Napoli are reportedly ready to rival Tottenham and Everton for South Korea centre-back Kim Min-jae, who has his own preference of where he would like to end up. Spurs have been in the mix to sign the Fenerbahce defender going back to Jose Mourinho’s days in charge of the club. However, Antonio Conte is known to have had other preferences for the position. Alessandro Bastoni and Gleison Bremer were very much on Conte’s radar before a loan deal was struck for Clement Lenglet. However, despite the arrival of the Frenchman, Spurs continue to be linked with centre-backs – with Thursday’s edition of Transfer Gossip revealing they could beat Chelsea to Jules Kounde. But Chelsea’s chase for Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly has prompted the Italian side to target Kim as a replacement. Corriere del Mezzogiorno states that the Naples outfit must ‘beat the competition’ from Tottenham, Everton and Rennes to sign the 25-year-old this summer. The report adds that Napoli have already made contact with the player, who wants out of Turkey. Kim wants to challenge himself in a tougher league ahead of the World Cup later this year. And while the report adds that the player favours Tottehham, the arrival of Lenglet makes that unlikely. Fenerbahce are also said to want their star’s £15million [plus taxes] termination clause to be paid in one shot. Napoli, meanwhile, want a discount and would prefer to pay the fee in instalments. Kim currently earns €2m (£1.7m) per year and wants his salary to be improved to €3m (£2.5m). The report adds that both Fenerbahce and Napoli are set to have a new round of talks over a transfer. To that end, it appears that’s Kim’s hopes of a move to Tottenham are finally done and dusted. Meanwhile, Everton‘s hopes also appear to be dashed as the player prepares to head to Italy.
