Fabrizio Romano says that Barcelona and Bayern Munich have finally reached an agreement for the sale of Robert Lewandowski after months of rumors, gossip, and speculation.
The 33-year-old striker has been the target of Barcelona's attention for several months, and the Poland captain has been eager to take on a new challenge in his career.
The striker and Barça had mutually agreed upon personal conditions months prior, but Bayern Munich had not reached a similar understanding because the German champions maintained their view that the star goal scorer was not for sale.
However, after rejecting three earlier offers, the titans of Bavaria began to warm up to the transaction over the past few days and ultimately agreed to accept Barça's most recent offer.
Lewandowski, 33, refused to engage with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, who were both interested in signing the 33-year-old Poland captain, according to Romano, who claims that the transaction is worth €50 million, including add-ons.
The €50 million deal between the teams is also confirmed by SPORT, who says that it will be split into €45 million + €5 million in fixed and variable payments.
Lewandowski is reportedly scheduled to be in Barcelona today, or Saturday, though his announcement may be somewhat delayed. However, the Bayern Munich center-forward is anticipated to travel with Barça on their preseason tour to the United States of America.
With this, one of the summer's most protracted transfer sagas comes to an end. Lewandowski was said to have reached a three-year agreement, but the most recent reports indicate that he will sign a four-year contract.
In an interview with Bild, Kahn has since provided an update on the situation.
Finally, FC Barcelona offered a figure for which selling him made perfect sense for us, the player claimed.
"We've also just had great success in the transfer market, bringing in Sadio Mane, a player of the highest caliber for the offense. As a result, FC Barcelona and I have now come to an arrangement. The contract is still pending, although only verbally as of now.
Lewandowski was at Bayern training on Saturday and said his goodbyes to his teammates. He is expected to fly out to the United States to join Barcelona on their pre-season tour once the transfer has been completed.
