LIQUID PUMPS AND WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

featured img

High pressure air driven liquid pumps are known for their simplistic designs while conducting efficient operation in industrial applications. They have the capabilities to handle a wide range of pressure ratios. Many liquid pumps can provide output pressures ranging from 30 psi to 60,000 psi.

Liquid pump manufacturers design the product to provide solutions for particular industrial applications. Standard pumps can provide specific solutions to oil, water, and chemical applications. However, manufacturers also provide high grade, rugged liquid pumps that can handle both oil and water applications.

Common Design and Construction Features

Most pumps are constructed using stainless steel for its high strength, corrosion resistance and long service life. They comprise a large air piston that is connected to a plunger of a small diameter. This helps to provide efficient pressures for a particular application. Generally, manufacturers provide single and double acting models to customers. The liquid pumps can be designed with multiple air heads for increased performance.

The following are the common solution driven features:

Easy installation and operation They function without using any electrical power, providing immense safety It is an economical source of power as pressure is constantly maintained without excessive energy consumption It can also be used as an economical hydraulic power source External spool valve for easier maintenance Air regulator for presetting the outlet pressure The pump automatically stops when the air driven forces and outlet pressure are equal Accessories for Improved Installation and Performance

There are some standard accessories that are provided by these pump manufacturers to quicken the installation process and improve the overall performance of the liquid pump.

Regulators: These usually come with a gauge and a shutoff valve. They can be easily installed onto the liquid pump. The regulator reduces any high pressures down to the required working pressure for an application. The gauge allows the engineer to precisely monitor the pressure ratios.

Pneumatic Pilot Switches: The switches provide a signal when the working pressure has been reached. They are extremely beneficial for applications that utilize long plumbing or pipelines.

Relief Valves: The relief valve opens when a predetermined pressure point is reached. A portion of the pressurized fluid gets diverted to help maintain the optimal working pressure.

Cycle Counters: For precision pressure ratio testing, cycle counters are extremely useful. They can provide exact measurements to ensure that the pipeline is completely ready for application use.

Applications

It can be used in a variety of different industrial liquid pump applications.

Hydrostatic Testing: Pressure testing is one of the most critical processes in construction of oil, water and chemical pipelines. Also known as hydrostatic liquid pump testing, the objective of pressure testing is to analyze areas of the pipeline and determine whether aspects such as optimum pressure, reliability, leaks, flow capacity and joint fittings meet industry requirements and standards. This critical process can be performed easily by using an air driven liquid pump.

Clamping and Releasing: These are required to help maintain a continuous output force for long periods of time. As a hydraulic power source, these can help maintain zero flow output pressures while preventing heat generation.

Valve Actuation: It can be used as a part of the fail safe system for oil and gas pipelines. The pump keeps the valves open and automatically closes in case of any failure.

The simple design, rugged construction, and outstanding features make air driven liquid pumps the perfect choice for a variety of industrial applications.
