LIVE TRANSFER NEWS: Manchester United is stepping up their summer business as Premier League clubs look to close deals before the start of the new season on August 5.
According to an industry expert, Premier League transfer spending is three times higher than last season.
Manchester United confirmed their second signing on Friday and could make a third today, with Lisandro Martinez set to join Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen at Old Trafford. Arsenal has lost the race to sign the Ajax defender and will look for other options.
Eriksen arrived at United on a free transfer on Friday afternoon. And the versatile Martinez will soon join him for £46 million, while the Red Devils continue to pursue Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.
Arsenal had four signings already and wanted Martinez to be their fifth. Instead, they will focus on Manchester City's Oleksandr Zinchenko, with the hope of concluding a £35 million deal soon.
Tottenham have been very busy, but they are set to confirm Djed Spence as their sixth signing for a fee of £12.5 million plus add-ons. Spence finished his physical on Friday. Chelsea will soon confirm Kalidou Koulibaly as their latest signing following Raheem Sterling.

Lisandro Martinez is expected to have his Manchester United medical today in order to finalize his £46 million transfer to Old Trafford.
The Argentine will be Erik ten Hag's third summer signing, and according to De Telegraaf, he will finish his medicals in England today.
Martinez was spotted on a private jet on Friday and has agreed to a contract extension with United until 2027.

Arsenal are set to rekindle their interest in Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba, according to reports.
Mikel Arteta is looking for a new defender but has missed out on Lisandro Martinez, who has agreed to join Manchester United. Arsenal are planning a move for Tapsoba, according to FootballTransfers.
Bayer Leverkusen is said to want £42 million for the Burkina Faso centre-half, while Arsenal is said to be interested.
