Mason Mount has reflected on Chelsea's 2-1 victory over Club America in Las Vegas, where his spectacular goal sealed the victory and gave the team a winning start to the preseason.

The 23-year-old received a pass from Marcos Alonso on the edge of the box with seven minutes left to play at Allegiant Stadium. He then found some space and skillfully bent a shot past Oscar Jimenez to give the Blues the lead once more.

Timo Werner gave Chelsea the early advantage by scoring from a Reece James cut-back at the second attempt.

Five minutes after the hour mark, James' assist was undone when he passed the ball past Marcus Bettinelli and into his own goal to tie the game for Club America.

However, Mount's screamer, which was added at halftime after Thomas Tuchel made 11 substitutions at the break, made sure Chelsea started their American tour with a victory.

Mount frequently comes up with brilliant, game-changing moments, and he was in a good mood at the end of the game after winning the Man of the Match award.

The England international told the media after the game: "It's been a fantastic week practicing in the US, the supporters have been great. We like our time here.

It was close, but I'm not sure if it was top bins. I was overjoyed that the ball went in when I whacked it and looked up. We scored a second goal and triumphed. Working diligently on our off-the-ball skills and physical stamina was the most crucial thing we needed to do today, and I believe we accomplished that.

They put in a lot of effort and are a good team. They forced us to play and run as hard as we could. We are glad to have won and to have entertained all of these spectators.

Chelsea will now play their final two games of their American tour against Charlotte FC and Arsenal at Charlotte and Orlando before returning to England.

The Blues had a learning curve as they improved their fitness with game time to fill up the tank as they continue to get ready for their Premier League debut against Everton on August 6, Sunday.
