Conor Gallagher's return to Stamford Bridge as a "huge asset" for the upcoming campaign, according to Thomas Tuchel, has vindicated his choice to loan him out.

Gallagher has spent the last two seasons on loan in the Premier League with West Brom and Crystal Palace, but he has yet to play a single minute for his childhood club Chelsea.

In the 2021–22 campaign with Palace, the midfielder assisted on 11 goals, a total that was only surpassed by Wilfried Zaha (15) for Patrick Vieira's team in the league.

Gallagher stated earlier in the week that Chelsea manager Tuchel had assured him that he saw the 2022–23 season as a possibility for a breakthrough after earning his chance through successful loan stints.

Tuchel once more supported the academy graduate after the 22-year-old stood out in his maiden American appearance with the Blues, who defeated Mexican team Club America 2-1.

Conor Gallagher, who Everton are apparently interested in, trains at a particularly high level, and Tuchel stated, "You can plainly see it was the right option to let him leave on loan."

"He made a significant advancement in his development at Palace and joined the England team. It was a great beginning and a nice fit for him.

Now that he's familiar with our game rules, it's critical that he learns when to move and when to stay put. His work rate is exceptional. He can really help us out.

The inclusion of Ben Chilwell was another plus for Tuchel as Chelsea's preseason opener was won by Mason Mount after an own goal by Reece James had erased Timo Werner's goal.

After needing knee surgery, Chilwell missed a significant portion of the 2021–22 season and only played 541 Premier League minutes before making a comeback against Watford on the penultimate day of the regular season.

I'm really glad that he's back, said Tuchel. "There is a difference between practicing and playing a game, so it will take him some time, but he will succeed because he deserves it, and we will help him get there.

"After a really hard game and a very physical two weeks, I'm delighted that nobody has been harmed."

While Mount and Werner scored, Michy Batshuayi and Kai Havertz missed good chances, but Tuchel anticipates that everyone will find their footing eventually.

The German said, "Timo played 45 minutes like everyone else and Timo scored." "From there, we move on, and that's what matters. There is always room for improvement, but this is only the first game.

"Kai, Michy, Timo, and Mason all took advantage of the opportunity when it presented itself.

"I assume that as they gain experience, they may possibly grow more composed and flexible.

They are still developing as players, so we expect them to maintain their composure, remain focused, and fulfill their role as attackers.

Chelsea's last preseason matchups are against Charlotte FC of Major League Soccer, Arsenal, and Udinese before their Premier League debut against Everton on August 6.
