IMMEDIATE REVIEW OF THE 1992 CONSTITUTION: UNIONS MUST DEMAND.

The only thing that will solve the problem for every Ghanaian worker is for all workers, the TUC, organized labor and other trade unions should go on strike and demand an immediate amendment to the 1992 constitution to delete Article 71 which only favors the political class, repeal ex gratia, prevent the president from appointing IGP, AG, AUDITOR GENERAL, EOCO BOSS, EC boss, CJ etc., prevent the president from appointing MPs as ministers. Put all public sector workers, including politicians, on the same pay structure so that if there is a 10% pay rise, one and all gets 10%, not when politicians get 70% while other workers get 4%.

The only way this constitution of ours will be amended by the same politicians who benefit from it is if all unions (NAT, NAGRAT, TEWU, CLOSSAG, CCTU, UTAG, nurses, doctors, pharmacists etc.) COOPERATE with civil society organizations ( civil society organization) to engage in serious STRIKE and demonstrations.

If nothing like this happens, no politician in GOVERNMENT or POWER will voluntarily change the Constitution for the benefit of all citizens to enable development and eradicate inequity among the salaries of public sector workers including politicians.

How, you may ask, would such a new pay structure go about drastically reducing inequity? This is my opinion,

It should be based on academic qualifications so that all SSSCE certificate holders, diploma holders, degree holders, masters degree holders, PhD holders, professionals etc. wherever they find themselves in the public sector, whether in Parliament as MP, Minister, President, in the classroom, in the police service, in the military, nurses, etc. THEY WILL be paid the same BASIC salary if they have the same academic qualifications.

For example, a master's degree holder who is a primary school principal will receive the SAME BASIC salary as a master's degree holder who is an MP or a minister, as well as a master's degree holder teaching at any public college, the only difference should be the allowances each individual receives for your work.

For example, a nurse who holds a degree will receive the SAME basic salary as an MP who also holds a degree, but the nurse will be entitled to a "night allowance" which an MP will not be entitled to and vice versa, an MP may also be entitled to an allowance , which the nurse does not take.

In my opinion, the above is the only way to stop these greedy politicians from taking ordinary Ghanaian public sector workers for granted and also make the system fair for all of us.
