There has been a lot of reaction towards the transfer of Robert Lewandowski from FC Bayern Munich to Barcelona and one of the outstanding receptions has come from former player and legend of Barcelona, Hristo Stoichkov. Stoichkov granted an interview to express his feelings towards the news;
On the current team and new arrivals to Barcelona;
Stoichkov predicted that the current Barcelona team is capable of winning titles notably La Liga. He continued that Lewandowski is a great signing because Barcelona needed a goalscorer and have him in addition to Pierre Aubameyang, Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, and Dembele.
On Competition:
Stoichkov explained that competition is necessary for modern football to help footballers grow and Lewandowski is no exception and a veteran who can handle competition and be a good figure to the young players
On Lewandowski:
He expressed his happiness on the signing of Lewandowski. He described Lewandowski as a tremendous goalscorer who brings a lot of different characteristics, not only inside the box. He demonstrated that Lewandowski movement and double work is essential for the team.
On His goalscoring abilities:
Stoichkov explained that Lewandowski is going to score a lot of goals and be a headache to opponents. He cited an example of how Lewandowski has already scored four goals against Real Madrid in a previous game. He took the opportunity to throw a dig at archrivals Real Madrid who have have been a fan of the polish international.
On Dembele:
Stoichkov praised Dembele for his quality but also criticized him for his injury records so far as Barcelona. He went on further to say Dembele hasn't learnt from his experience in the past four years. He admonishes Dembele to wake up and learn. He also advised Dembele to watch a lot of videos and prove to be one of the players who can make a lot of difference from their positions.
