Lisandro Martinez has been officially signed by Manchester United, but Erik ten Hag is still looking for a midfielder, with Ruben Neves being considered as a possible Frenkie de Jong replacement.

Ruben Neves, a target for Manchester United, is entirely focused on the forthcoming campaign with his current team Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Portuguese midfielder, who has excelled for Molineux over the last five seasons, has been hotly rumored to be leaving the Premier League team this summer. In fact, Neves appeared to say goodbye to fans at the end of the previous campaign and acknowledged he was unsure of what the future would bring.

"At this time, the only thing I can say is that everyone is aware of what football and our lives are all about. Our career is relatively brief, therefore we must seize the chances that come our way, he stated following the final-day loss to Liverpool at Anfield.

Only three weeks left until the start of the new season, but Neves is still a member of the Wolves team and is now at the team's warm-weather training camp in Alicante. But Neves' transfer to Old Trafford remains a possibility, especially as the tiresome Frenkie de Jong drama drags on.

Although a deal with the player has not yet been finalized, an initial transfer cost of £56.2 million has been agreed upon to capture the Dutchman from Barcelona.Erik ten Hag has designated his former player as his main priority of his first transfer window, and he is prepared to make any move necessary to acquire him.

This summer, there have been rumors that Ruben Neves would join Manchester United. However, there are reportedly backup plans in place, with Youri Tielemans of Leicester and Neves both being considered, according to The Express. However, Neves is not displaying any indications that he anticipates anything soon and is instead looking forward to Wolves' season opener against Leeds at Elland Road at the beginning of next month.

He responded, "It's pre-season, we're used to it, when asked about the camp. To be 100% in August, we need to return to our peak condition, and we are working toward that.

"Training is always wonderful, but playing is better, and we have four games next week, so it will be really beneficial for us to prepare and get in shape."

The 25-year-old said he was excited to see the Wolves fans for next week's games in Spain because they have a special bond with him. He joined the club when they were struggling in the Championship in 2017.

"I was startled by how many supporters we had there during my first preseason here in Austria, so it's no longer a surprise for me, but it's always fantastic to have them watch us play, and we will strive to do our best for them," the player said.

Even though United and Ajax came to an agreement to purchase Lisandro Martinez, United still needs to bolster its midfield. The Argentine, who can play both in defense and in the middle of the field, will sign a five-year deal with Old Trafford and enter Carrington together with Christian Eriksen and Tyrell Malacia.
