Engr. Kingsley Okorafor, a senior official of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has returned home from captivity.

Okorafor, who was kidnapped by some gunmen in his hometown, Umulogho autonomous in Imo, has regained freedom from his abductors.

Recall that DAILY POST had earlier reported that the daredevil armed men abducted him in the early hours of Saturday morning, about three kilometers away from a military checkpoint in the area.

A close relative, who pleaded anonymity while speaking to DAILY POST via a telephone interview on the development, confirmed this development.

When queried if a ransom was paid before his release, he said he is not aware.

The family source said, “I can authoritatively confirm to you that my brother who was earlier kidnapped on Saturday has regained his freedom and has reunited with other family members.”

There has been a spate of kidnappings in Imo and other security challenges in recent times.

On Friday, a father of four was shot dead at a burial ceremony in front of his wife and children in Atta, Ikeduru Local Government of the state.

DAILY POST gathered that his killers fled afterward while policemen, led by the Iho division DPO, arrived at the scene yesterday.

When contacted about the development, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Micheal Abattam, however, said command is already investigating the incident.

He pleaded with everyone for their patience, as the outcome will be made public.
