The ‘documents are being finalised’ on Brighton departure – Club ‘trying to speed up’ transfer
Napoli are ‘trying to speed up’ their move for Brighton defender Leo Ostigard so they can complete their squad as soon as possible. That’s according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, who say the ‘documents are being finalised’ on the transfer. According to their information, the defender could arrive in Trentino at the beginning of next week to undergo a medical and then start training with his new team in Abruzzo at Castel di Sangro. Napoli have been chasing the Brighton man for several weeks as they look to bolster their squad. Embed from Getty Images He was set to arrive as the fourth centre-back in the squad but will now be further up the pecking order after Kalidou Koulibaly’s move to Chelsea. The Italians have had an agreement with the player for some time but only managed to secure a deal with Brighton earlier this week. It seems they are now pushing ahead to get things over the line as soon as possible, perhaps motivated by Koulibaly’s departure. That’s left a hole in their defence that needs to be filled, with Ostigard and several other defenders now being targeted for the new era.
Napoli launch bid for Brighton defender Leo Skiri Ostigard
Brighton defender Leo Skiri Ostigard is on the brink of signing for Napoli. With Kalidou Koulibaly set to join Chelsea for €40m, the Serie A club have identified a readymade replacement in young Brighton defender Ostigard. The 22-year-old Norwegian joined the Seagulls in 2018, but has yet to make a senior appearance for the south coast club; he has instead spent time away on loan at St Pauli, Coventry, Stoke and Genoa. It's understood that Napoli officials were impressed by Ostigard's time in Serie A, and have submitted a bid to Brighton in the region of €3m - €4m. His form on-loan last season with relegated Genoa has convinced Napoli to make their move. Need a VPN? Or seeking to switch?
