Liverpool agrees to the transfer of Rangers in order to profit from the star who has never played for the club

Liverpool and Rangers have reached an agreement to sell one of their underutilized players.

Ben Davies, a center defender for Liverpool, will cost the Glasgow team £4 million to join Rangers. The English defender comes here to take the place of Calvin Bassey, who is leaving for Ajax in a move worth more than £20 million.

In January 2021, Davies moved to Liverpool from Preston as the team was dealing with a serious center-back injury issue. The club's three senior defenders, Virgil Van Dijk, Joel Matip, and Joe Gomez, were all out for the season, leaving Jurgen Klopp scurrying to find a replacement on the final day of the transfer window.

Ironically, before Liverpool raced in to claim Davies, he was expected to sign for Rangers' bitter rivals Celtic. The 26-year-old, however, was never a member of the Anfield squad when Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips took over the center-back spot during the close of the 2020–21 campaign. The defender played for Sheffield United in the Championship on loan during the previous season since playing time for Liverpool would be impossible once their star players had recovered.

Liverpool only paid £500,000 for the contract, and the £1.1 million in performance-based add-ons was never used. Due to the Scottish team's bid, the club will now turn a profit of about £3.5 million.

Aside from the Championship, Rangers weren't the only team vying for his signature. Blackburn and Middlesbrough were both keen on a permanent deal While inquiries about a season-long loan came from Stoke and Burnley. However, it is now obvious that the defender will relocate to Glasgow, with the only tasks remaining to finish being the formalities of personal terms and a physical.

In 50 games across all competitions, he was the team's best performer in both the Scottish Cup final victory over Hearts three days later and the Europa League loss to Eintracht Frankfurt.

With midfielder Joe Aribo already departing the Scottish Premiership to join Southampton in a £10 million move, he is the second of the Gers' key players to go this summer.
