Fotocopy is the one of the hottest Ghanaian rappers trending at the moment owning to the fact that he has dropped a ‘bars on bars’ freestyle that is setting social media on fire. Kallai Nana Qwaachi aka Fotocopy is a kid rapper and is seven years of age and in class 2 but his rap flow is on a ‘Badu’ and deserves an honorary PhD immediately.Unlike many talented young ones who start off on reality shows, Fotocopy has already released his first single titled Megye Me Dow.
The song which features his father Qwaachi and comic actor Clemento Suarez is already garnering attention. It already has over 32,000 views within 10 days of its release.Fotocopy's song tells a story of a father who refuses to take care of his son by making reference to demands a boy makes from his father when school reopens. In an interview with Joy News' Maxwell Agbagba, Fotocopy indicated rap comes to him naturally adding that he wrote the song himself. Explaining the name Fotocopy, the primary two pupil stated that he chose his stage name because he is a photocopy of his father who is also a musician. On his part, Fotocopy's father declared that he was going all out o support his son because he does not want him to hide and do it and eventually do it wrongly.
I couldn’t sleep when I received Shatta Wale’s verse Fotocopy has revealed that he was overly excited to receive two rap verses from Dancehall heavyweight Shatta Wale for his second single ‘School Dey Bee’.
According to him, he did not believe the news that Shatta Wale wanted to work with him. He considered it a joke based on the impression that his team only wanted to keep him in good spirit.
However, the Dancehall King not only placed a personal call to Fotocopy, but expressed admiration for his works.He said he wanted to support me, so he gave me two verses” he added.
His first single, Megye Me Dow, a song that features his father Qwaachi and comedian Clemento Suarez won him a lot of public admiration.
He is currently out with his second single, another banger featuring Shatta Wale titled ‘School Dey Bee’In an interview with Cookie Tee on TV3 New Day, the prolific nine-year-old singer stated he has an upper hand over his father, Qwaachi, following a Shatta Wale feature. Fotocopy called it an astounding achievement in his career.
“My dad has been in the industry for four years and couldn’t even feature Shatta Wale. So it means a lot to feature him on my music.”
Speaking on how the collaboration came off, Fotocopy revealed that the dancehall artiste reached out to his team and expressed interest in his craft. He added that he was astonished and was fascinated by the news.
“He reached out to my team and told them he wanted to work with me. When he told them, I thought it was a joke? He called me again and said he wanted to support me. I couldn’t sleep that night. I was filled with excitement,” he said.
‘School Dey Bee’ has gained over 900k views on YouTube since its release.
Fotocopy revealed a passion for music at the age of three. This is evident in his music style and the successes he has been chalking since the inception of his career.
He further explained that he got the name ‘Fotocopy’ because he is a chip off the old block. Fotocopy’s dad released songs like ‘Deepest Regret’, ‘Fr3 No’ featuring Kofi Mole and Fameye, ‘Cine Twem’, among others.
When I turned seven, I didn’t understand the meaning of the word photocopy. So I asked my father, and he explained to me that it means something resembling the other. Then I asked him if he knows people say I resemble him, and he said yes. I later told him my name is now Fotocopy because people say I resemble him. And he was wowed,” he explained.
Fotocopy, who yearns to be the next big international act, appreciated collective efforts and support from the music industry.
