Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has been identified as a possible replacement for Matthijs De Ligt, who is close to joining Bayern Munich.

The Dutchman is in talks with the German giants and looks set to leave this summer, even if it is not to Bayern, with Manchester City and Chelsea also interested.

Wherever De Ligt ends up, the Turin club will need a replacement, and Sky Sport Italia reports that Gabriel is the most likely candidate.

The 24-year-old has had two successful seasons with Arsenal after joining from Lille for a fee that could top £27 million.

Mikel Arteta, the Gunners manager, has forged a partnership in central defense with Gabriel and Ben White, and the Spaniard would be devastated to lose the Brazilian this summer.

According to an Italian report, Gabriel would cost Juve €40 million (£33.8 million) this summer, though that appears to be a conservative estimate given that he has three years left on his Arsenal contract and would not result in much profit for the Gunners.

Juventus are also interested in Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli, Gleison Bremer of Torino, and Benoit Badiashile of Monaco.

However, Koulibaly is more likely to join Chelsea, Bremer is more likely to join Inter Milan, and Badiashile appears to be an expensive gamble, with Monaco asking €30 million (£25.3 million) for the inexperienced 21-year-old.

Gabriel has not indicated a desire to leave Arsenal, but Juventus can provide Champions League football, which he has yet to experience with the Gunners.
