The success of the present New Patriotic Party leadership hinges on their working connection with the President, according to Dr. Amoako Baah, head of the political science department at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
He asserts that it is crucial for the team to figure out how to collaborate closely with the President in order to encourage him to make improvements while there is still time before the 2024 elections.
Despite the fact that this new group of executives benefits from variables like age balance, regional balance, and party work experience, he claimed that if the President refused to work with them, they would be rendered ineffective.
He said, "The elected politicians can try their best, but in the end, if it does not transfer into executive action it is a waste of time," in an interview with JoyNews' PM Express. The focus should be on the government since the people are not furious with the elected representatives; rather, they are angry with the administration.
All of the incoming crowd dynamics are good, but they are meaningless if they cannot be converted into actions that the executive can carry out to increase people's comfort levels. People are really furious, and when someone is very upset, they need to be addressed to and offered gentle words.
The only alternative left, he said, was to get the administration to provide results within the remaining time if they intended to break the eight because persons who had in the past soothed party members and won sympathy for the party have now lost their credibility and fallen out with the people.
The issue is that the persons who are meant to talk to them, such as Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, lack credibility and are thus completely ignored. So, even if they may listen to Koduah, Nana Addo is not a favourite. What are you going to do about that?
"That is the issue, because Nana Addo is the candidate they're focusing on, and they're the ones who can make changes so that people would turn out to vote for NPP again. To turn things around, they would need to find a method to convince the President to listen to them. Otherwise, no matter how good they appear to be, they would fail, so yes, they must work very hard," he added.
