Idrissu Musah Superior, who was unsuccessful in his bid for the general secretary position inside the ruling New Patriotic Party, expressed his joy over the dismissal of Secretary John Boadu.

He claimed that one of the factors influencing his decision to run for the General Secretary position was seeing John Boadu's failure.

The former mayor of Tamale expressed his firm belief that the NPP would suffer a crushing defeat in the important general election of 2024 if John Boadu was still in power.

"In my opinion, John Boadu's defeat was the finest development. I believe John Boadu was a lousy general secretary; I believe he managed the party poorly and lacked competence. One of the reasons I entered the contest was because I wanted him gone because I envisaged the NPP losing the 2024 elections while John Boadu was still the party's general secretary. He was so awful at party management, which is why I say this. In addition to weakening the party, he created a chasm between the party faithful and the executive branch.

Musah Superior said in an interview with Bonohene Baffuor Awuah on Ghana Kasa, "John Boadu simply did not handle the mandate given to him; in fact, he abused the mandate, and I'm absolutely glad that even though I did not win, the delegates of the party have taken a decision to replace the incompetent John Boadu with Justin Frimpong Kodua."

On Monday, July 19, 2022, during an interview with Bonohene Baffuor Awuah on the Ghana Kasa programme on Kasapa 102.5FM/Agoo TV, Musah Superior made the statement.

The weekend saw the election of attorney Justin Kodua Frimpong as the new general secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party.

By garnering 2,837 votes as opposed to 2,524 for John Boadu, the incumbent general secretary, he defeated him.

Idrissu Musah received 104 votes, Ramseyer Agyeman-Prempeh got 8 votes, and Fredrick Opare-Ansah got 50 votes among the other candidates.
