DIEGO SIMEONE'S SON has "liked" a tweet about Cristiano Ronaldo, implying that he will join his father at Atletico Madrid.
Ronaldo has been linked with a move away from Manchester United throughout the summer, with claims that he is dissatisfied at the club.
Despite interest from Chelsea and Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid has emerged as the frontrunners to sign the Portuguese superstar.
The son of Simeone added fuel to the fire by reacting online to reports Ronaldo was set to join Atletico.
Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to return to Madrid... to play for Atletico Madrid, according to the tweet.
His agent, Jorge Mendes, pushes for CR7 to visit the Metropolitan."
Gianluca Simeone, Simeone's son, "liked" the report on Twitter.
Despite Atletico Madrid's interest in Ronaldo, the club will need to raise £34 million in sales to fund a bid.
Simeone believes he could be the ideal replacement for Luis Suarez, who left at the end of last season when his contract expired.
However, in order to do so, they must first sell players for £34 million.
There is also concern because he is a Real Madrid legend, Atletico's bitter rival.
Between 2009 and 2018, Ronaldo was the king of Madrid, scoring 311 goals in 292 LaLiga matches while also winning the Champions League four times.
That made him Atleti's public enemy number one, but he may be about to join them in a sensational move.
