Hearts of Oak midfielder Sulley Muntari has named Ghana's first game of the 2008 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) against Guinea in Accra as his best game in the colors of the Black Stars.
The game played at the Accra Sports Stadium was the opening game of the 2008 AFCON played in Ghana. Ghana defeated Guinea 2-1, with Sullley Muntari scoring the winning goal in the dying embers of the game.
"The most memorable one was the game against Guinea in the 2008 AFCON. The atmosphere at the stadium was tense because the game was ending in a 1-1 draw and I scored to light up the stadium.
"I remember Essien telling me in that game to shoot after giving me the ball, and that's how we got the goal. The bond between us the players at the time was great," Sulley Muntari told Kwabena Yeboah in an interview on GTV Sports+.
Sulley Muntari made 84 appearances for the Black Stars between 2002 - 2014, scoring 20 goals. He featured in numerous tournaments for the team, including the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) and three World Cups.
