Tuesday's preseason friendly between Premier League rivals Manchester United and Crystal Palace in Melbourne saw plenty of heavy challenges flying in. Tempers threatened to flare as Manchester United and Crystal Palace duked it out in Australia.

In a preseason match between the two Premier League teams in Melbourne, the Red Devils once again stood out under new manager Erik ten Hag. In the first half, Anthony Martial gave United the lead, and Marcus Rashford extended the lead after the break thanks to a seamless team play.

With 30 minutes left, Jadon Sancho came through with a calm finish, latching onto the in-form Martial's through ball and scoring past Remi Matthews, who took Jack Butland's position for the Eagles in the first half due to injury. Sancho's second preseason goal came only moments after Jordan Ayew of Palace and United midfielders Bruno Fernandes and Fred got into a physical altercation.

After Ayew tackled Fernandes too late and received a yellow card, Fernandes became enraged. Fred sprang to his teammate's defense. Before they could be eventually separated and play could resume, the pair shoved each other. Sancho scored two minutes later.

The inverse number is ten Hag. Shortly after the third goal was scored, Patrick Vieira rang the changes. Charlie Savage, Anthony Elanga, Will Fish, Amad Diallo, Zidane Iqbal, and Hannibal Mejbri was one of the young players that was added to the Red Devils lineup to play the final 15-20 minutes and gain extra crucial experience before the regular season.

Despite being a friendly, the game was played with plenty of energy and at a strong tempo, providing the two teams with the perfect warm-up for the rapidly approaching Premier League season. A heavy-handed charge from Palace midfielder Jean-Philippe Mateta knocked Donny van de Beek to the ground after he skillfully assisted Rashford's goal.

Teammates had to separate Fred (on the left) and Jordan Aye (on the right).

Where in the Premier League will Manchester United and Crystal Palace place this year? Speculate in the comments section!

Joel Ward headed past David de Gea after latching onto Luka Milivojevic's corner as Palace scored with just over 30 minutes remaining. At that time, the score of 3-1 to United represented a match in which both goalkeepers were kept busy but the Red Devils controlled possession.

De Gea will be upset with how Ward's header beat him to give United their first preseason goal. The Spaniard started the 4-0 thrashing of Liverpool before sitting out the 4-1 victory over Melbourne Victory due to an injury. Victor Akinwale broke in on goal toward the conclusion of the game, and 19-year-old defender Fish brought him down.
