Mina requests to rejoin Celta while engaging sentence
Spanish footballer Santi Mina, condemned to four years in jail in the wake of being viewed as at fault for sexual maltreatment in May, has requested his "quick reestablishment" to club side Celta Vigo, the LaLiga outfit said on Monday.
The 26-year-old, who has pursued the sentence, needs "his quick reestablishment to the group's instructional courses," the Galician club said in a proclamation.
Celta had briefly excused the player from first-group preparing and opened disciplinary procedures after his conviction for physically attacking a lady in 2017.
Mina was gotten free from the charge of rape, for which the state examiner had looked for a sentence of eight years in jail, which as per Spanish regulation requires confirmation of terrorizing or brutality.
Mina's companion David Goldar, who plays for second-level club Ibiza, was found not liable after he was blamed for being an assistant.
The lady blamed Mina for assaulting her in a campervan in June 2017 in the town of Mojacar in south-east Spain, where Mina was on vacation with Goldar.
Mina was playing for Valencia at the hour of the offense. He joined Celta in 2019.
Celta added that it "maintains whatever authority is needed to guarantee, assuming the conviction is affirmed, all harms brought about by the player's way of behaving, both monetarily and with regards to the club's picture, while regarding his entitlement to claim from today".
