A former youth sports coach in Kailua, Hawaii, was sentenced to 20 years in prison Thursday for producing child pornography.
U.S. District Judge Leslie Kobayashi sentenced 43-year-old Rian Ishikawa during a court hearing, according to KITV 4. After 20 years, he will be under supervised release for an additional 15 years.
Ishikawa was arrested in June 2020, and pleaded guilty to six counts of child porn production in February 2022, according to KITV 4. In his plea agreement, he stated that from November 2012 to July 2015, he produced videos exploiting six children ages nine to 11, the outlet reported at the time.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office stated that Ishikawa utilized a hidden cell phone to videotape the children in the bathroom, according to KITV 4.
The victims were children of Ishikawa’s friends and also kids who participated in various youth sports teams he coached in Kailua, according to Star-Advertiser.
Evidence first surfaced in November 2019 from Ishikawa’s email provider who reported him to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and to Homeland Security Investigations, according to Star-Advertiser.
