Erling Haaland and Kalvin Phillips both joined Manchester City this summer.
Erling Haaland, a fellow summer addition for Manchester City, is under fire after Kalvin Phillips said the striker bears "huge" responsibility for the upcoming campaign. The Norwegian was chosen by Pep Guardiola's team over a number of elite European teams, and the 21-year-old will be hoping to continue his illustrious goal-scoring record.
At Borussia Dortmund, Haaland amassed 62 league goals in 67 appearances, which prompted City to sign the striker and send him to the Etihad. Phillips is anticipating big things from Haaland this season after being impressed with him during training.
According to Phillips of Sky Sports, "I believe just the presence he has and the confidence he has in himself is what every big attacker needs." Because he now has a lot of responsibility at City, it is clear that he has this quality in spades. You can also see it in the way he trains and his level of competition. He might fly this season, in my opinion. He is a good kid and a great football player, and we have talked quite a bit about Leeds and get along well. I haven't met him before.
Despite Guardiola's contract expiring the following year, Phillips stated that working with the Spanish coach was a major factor in his decision to join City. The English midfielder hopes that his new manager would extend his contract so he can stay at the team. "I suppose one of the primary reasons why I wanted to come was to be taught by Pep," Phillips continued when there were rumors that City were interested.

"I simply wanted to learn a lot from him and the other players around me as well. He is one of the top managers in the world and the teams that he has managed and the stuff that he has won. I am aware that he only has a year remaining on his contract, but even if it is only a year, I hope it is more since I think I will be able to learn a lot from him.
Pablo Zabaleta, a former fullback for Manchester City, concurred with Phillips' assessment of Haaland's potential for a strong campaign, calling the club's new forward "probably the best player in the world." The Argentine also expressed optimism for his former team's impending first Champions League victory.

Zabaleta said to Sports, "He's a huge lad. "I saw him, and he was 'wow,' but he was in the market and one of the key players. We are very thrilled to have him at the club because he was being pursued by many elite teams.
"I believe he already has a link to Man City because his father [Alf-Inge] previously played for the team. He is likely the top player in the world, in my opinion.
The Champions League is one of the competitions the team aspires to, but I have faith that they will eventually succeed.
