Toni Kroos Clashes With Bundesliga Club Schalke After Ed Sheeran Comments

In his own podcast, the German midfielder discussed Schalke and mentioned the team's recent setbacks.

After suffering the worst-case scenario relegation the season prior, Schalke was reinstated to the top division this past season.

Under several managers, including former Huddersfield manager David Wagner and former Spurs coach Christian Gross, they went on a 30-game losing streak. However, they discovered some unexpectedly strong play toward the close of the previous campaign, which helped the team return to the Bundesliga.

The Veltins Arena, the home field of Schalke, has previously hosted music performances during the off-season, including a recent appearance by British megastar Ed Sheeran. It prompted Kroos' cunning jab at the club.

On his podcast, he claimed: "Ed Sheeran did something that I have rarely seen: that people left the stadium delighted after a Schalke event."Schalke responded to Kroos' remark, which did not sit well with the team.

"At least we can offer calm interviews after the final whistle," Schalke wrote on Twitter.

In reaction to Kroos, Schalke conducted a famous interview of their own. With a win over Sandhausen in stoppage time, striker Simon Terodde's team came within a whisker of promotion, setting up raucous celebrations.

The 34-year-old was then required to do a post-game interview but was unable to speak since he had lost his voice amid the raucous celebrations.
