The Western Regional Youth Wing led by George Dadzie Junior held a Regional Youth Retreat at the weekend.
On Saturday, July 16, 2022, representatives of the regional youth wing, members of the regional working committee, constitutional youth organizers and their representatives, as well as representatives of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) attended the retreat to review their activities during our tenure. office.
Among other things, the retreat focused on the achievements, challenges and prospects of the Regional Youth Wing. Constitutional youth organizers provided an update on success stories, including a comparative analysis between 2016 and 2020 results, logistics and resource allocation, challenges facing the constitutional youth wing and prospects, as well as the way forward.
Those who graced the occasion include Barrister George Opare Addo, National Youth Organiser, Ruth Delah Seddoh, Deputy National Youth Organiser, Nana Kojo Toku, Regional Chairperson, Gladys Agyin, Regional Women Organiser, and Richard Kirk-Mensah, Regional Communications officer.
The host was Amenfi East Member of Parliament, Hon. Nicholas Amankwah and Raymond Constituency Youth Organizer Nana Ebbah. The rest were Emmanuel Okai Mintah, Eastern Regional Youth Organizer, Eric Dadson, Central Regional Youth Organizer and Ebenezer Essien, Deputy Regional Communications Officer etc.
The retreat was chaired by Nana Toku, Regional Chairman. The retreat ended with a series of resolutions:
1. The youth wing reaffirms its unwavering support for the social democratic agenda of the NDC as a viable ideological orientation to address the myriad problems plaguing this country. And this self-promotion coupled with a democratic agenda of property ownership has no place in Ghanaian politics.
2. The party's performance in the Western Region was satisfactory, winning eight (8) parliamentary seats out of four (4) seats in 2020. We want to emphasize that this performance could be achieved without the significant role of the youth wing.
3. They also expressed confidence in the work of eight (8) deputies from the region. The youth urges them to continue to defend the interest of the masses in the parliament. We salute our gallant members of the NDC group in Parliament.
4. The Western Regional Youth Wing resolves to work extremely hard in conjunction with all stakeholders to increase our parliamentary strength from eight (8) to fourteen (14) in the 2024 general election. We will ensure that JE parliamentary seats are reduced to three (3) of seventeen (17) in the county.
5. The Western Regional Youth Wing believes that the youth wing is the engine of the party's success in the upcoming elections. They therefore call on all stakeholders to pay attention to the youth wing and enable them to achieve a resounding victory in the 2024 general elections. He also reiterates the importance of youth working committees at the sectoral, district and regional levels and calls their effective use in mobilizing members at lowest level.
6. Regarding the upcoming election of branch managers, the Regional Youth Wing emphasizes the need to elect competent persons who will ensure the operation of polling stations throughout the country. We appeal to the youth of the party to prepare themselves for leadership roles at all levels of the party. As the grassroots unit of the party, the NDC should resolve to prepare the branches to give the party a strong mandate in the 2024 general elections.
7. We stand in solidarity with the suffering people of Ghana and call on the government of Nana Akufo Addo to work hard to alleviate the unbearable economic hardships in the country. The deteriorating economic situation is the result of your ineptitude, maladministration and extravagance. The onslaught on the national economy is unprecedented in Ghana's history. Therefore, something needs to be done immediately to stop the cost of living crisis in the country.
8. We request the Akufo Addo led administration to reconstitute the “Economic Management Team as soon as possible and find a suitable chairman to replace Dr. Mahamudu Bawumiu who has proved helpless in the face of daunting economic challenges. supports John Dramani Mahama's call for Mr. Ken Ofori Atta to resign as Minister of Finance or be removed by the President.
9. The Western Regional Youth Wing appeals to all young party members to take an active interest in the upcoming internal elections and take up positions at branches, districts, regions and national level. Stand up Ghana Youth for your country!
The Western Regional Youth Wing also took the opportunity to award certificates to our hard working Constitutional Youth Organisers, Deputy Constitutional Youth Organisers, TEIN Regional Coordinators and Regional Youth Working Committee members for their dedication and commitment to sustaining and growing the NDC in the Western Region. .
The citations were presented in honor of three distinguished personalities: Mr. Kofi Totobi Quakyi, a founding member of the NDC, Barrister George Opare Addo, a National Youth Organizer and Mr. Raymond Nana Ebbha, a Youth Organizer from Amenfi East Constituency for their meritorious services and support to the county youth wing.
