It's a hilarious, ancient game.

While it appears that Nottingham Forest has taken Jesse Lingard from West Ham United, David Moyes' pursuit of another transfer target has recently got a timely boost from the East Midlands team.

The Athletic recently revealed that Amadou Onana of Lille had fans outside of West Ham and the City Ground. However, Nottingham Forest unveiled another dynamo-style midfielder in garibaldi red on Wednesday in the late afternoon. Whose appearance might put an end to rumors connecting Onana to the play-off champions.

Lewis O'Brien and his former Huddersfield Town teammate Harry Toffolo were acquired in a double transaction for £10 million, and Forest manager Steve Cooper says, "We are thrilled to secure the signing of Lewis O'Brien."

"We are searching for someone to enhance the midfield, and he has many of the attributes we are seeking for."

West Ham moves closer to signing Amadou Onana

What about the other clubs who had Onana on their summer wishlists, though? Arsenal does, though, seem to be putting other goals first. In a £32 million transfer from Manchester City to Arsenal, Oleksandr Zinchenko will rejoin Mikel Arteta and Gabriel Jesus.

Pep Guardiola, the manager of City, tells The Mirror, "I'll say on behalf of the club, our thanks on and off the pitch. Oleks yesterday was lovely since we could truly say goodbye.

He moves on to Arsenal. "Unfortunately, Gabi (Gabriel Jesus) and Raheem (Sterling) could not do it, but with him we could. Life will move on despite Zinchenko's loss. We must get beyond this obstacle.

On the left side of Mikel Arteta's midfield two, Zinchenko might take Granit Xhaka's spot in place of the unpredictable, explosive player. At Nottingham Forest, the similarly left-footed O'Brien is anticipated to play a similar role.

This does not, however, imply that West Ham has a free shot at Onana. Despite the fact that both Arsenal and Nottingham Forest look to have dropped out of contention, the 6ft 5in Belgian international is still one of the most sought-after young midfielders in the market.

However, things are going well now that Sky Sports has made a third bid for £32 million.

According to The Standard, the Hammers are now "certain" that Onana will don claret-and-blue in 2022–23. That assurance appears to be well-founded as well.
