Juventus set to sign Torino defender Bremer

Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer appeared to be on the brink of joining Juventus from local rivals Torino as the 36-times Serie A champions shared pictures of the player upon his arrival in Turin. "Bremer landed at Caselle," Juventus wrote on their website, posting a series of pictures of the Brazilian after he landed at Turin airport late on Tuesday. The club also shared a video of his arrival on Twitter. The 25-year-old is set to join Juventus on a permanent five-year deal for 41 million euros ($41.95 million) plus add-ons, Italian media have reported. Bremer, who joined Torino in 2018 from Brazil's Atletico Mineiro, made more than 100 appearances for the Italian side, starting 33 of their 38 Serie A games last season. ($1 = 0.9774 euros)

Report: Juventus to pounce for Tottenham target after £68m De Ligt sale

Photo by Claudio Benedetto/LiveMedia/NurPhoto via Getty Images Juventus will reportedly move for Tottenham target Gleison Bremer following the blockbuster sale of Matthijs de Ligt, with the centre-back on the verge of signing for Bayern Munich. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Brazilian centre-back is Juventus’ ideal player to replace De Ligt, who this week will sign for Bayern in a deal worth a reported €80m (£63m), though the Serie A giants face competition from Bremer from Tottenham and, more importantly, Inter Milan. As per the report, Inter are currently in talks to sign the defender, with Juventus banking on negotiations this week to fall through as the Nerazzurri have struggled to reach a breakthrough with the Torino star, something the Old Lady are confident in. Bremer enjoyed a fantastic campaign in Serie A last year with the 25-year-old named the league’s Defender of the Season, drawing interest from numerous sides across Europe, with Tottenham leading the charge for Premier League clubs to bring the talented centre-back to England. Indeed, Inter looked the favourites to land Bremer for the majority of the summer, however, this update regarding Juventus could put the Turin-based side in the driving seat to beat the Italian rivals and Tottenham to the Torino star, who could be a sensational addition for most clubs. Whilst losing De Ligt is a huge blow for Juventus replacing the Netherlands star with Bremer is a smart move from the Italian giants, moreover, signing the Brazilian would weaken a rival side in Torino and infuriate another in Inter as well as Tottenham should the sides miss in the UEFA Champions League. Photo by Giuseppe Maffia/NurPhoto via Getty Images Juventus have already made waves this summer in signing Paul Pogba on a free, and whilst De Ligt will be a big loss, replacing the Dutchman with Bremer is a great move from the Italian giants, especially when you consider how many sides were interested in landing the Torino star. After two years of the Scudetto being in Milan, Juventus will be looking to break this league drought with an emphatic Serie A campaign, and signing Bremer will greatly help the Old Lady in their quest to bring the title back to Turin. Transfer news LIVE: Cristiano Ronaldo 'leaving' Man Utd, Chelsea £51m bid, Arsenal medical

Piers Morgan claims he expected Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Manchester United following conversations between the pair last week. The Portuguese veteran stayed at home for the club's pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia and there are now doubts as to whether he will play for United this season. Now Morgan has told talkSPORT that on the basis of their recent chats, he expects Ronaldo to move onto pastures new. “I have had quite a lot of contact in the last week. I certainly think it’d be highly unlikely if Cristiano Ronaldo plays another game for Manchester United,” Morgan told talkSPORT. “I just think mentally he’s moved on. “I’m not going to say what we’ve said to each other but like I said from the start I don’t think Cristiano feels Manchester United share his ambitions. I think he feels that the signings they’re making, the commitment they showed last season, where they finished up and a lack of Champions League football… “If you’re him and coming towards the end of your career and you still want to win major trophies you’ve got to make a calculation. Am I going to do it if I stay at United? I think he feels the club structure from the top down isn’t right. It’s not a reflection on the new manager [Erik ten Hag], he’s got a lot of respect for him, but it’s just an accurate reflection of where United are right now.
