France international, Jules Kounde, is reportedly excited at the prospect of partnering with Chelsea’s latest signing Kalidou Koulibaly at Stamford Bridge as the Blues co-owner Todd Boehly looks to beat Barcelona to a £51million transfer deal for the Sevilla centre-back in the coming days.

Chelsea are keen to sign more centre-backs for their manager, Thomas Tuchel, ahead of the upcoming new season following the departure of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen to Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively.

There could yet be more departures from Chelsea’s back-line, with Barcelona looking to sign captain Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso before the summer transfer window closes.

Chelsea have already spent around £33million to sign Koulibaly from Napoli, but Tuchel knows more reinforcements are needed if the club are to challenge Premier League rivals Manchester City and Liverpool next season.

Tuchel has identified Kounde as a top target and Chelsea are hopeful of agreeing to a deal for the 23-year-old this week, according to CBS Sports.

Sevilla want £51million for Kounde and are privately hoping Barcelona will start a bidding war with Chelsea, with the Blaugrana manager Xavi, a known admirer of the player.

But Chelsea appears to be leading the race, with Kounde supposedly excited at the chance to form a partnership with Koulibaly in Tuchel’s squad.
