Chelsea are reportedly close to signing Sevilla defender Jules Kounde as their third summer signing.

Chelsea are on the verge of signing the 23-year-old star from La Liga club Sevilla, according to The Sun.

The France international is reportedly on his way to the Blues for a medical within the next 48 hours.

According to the report, Thomas Tuchel's side paid the asking price of £51 million plus £4 million in add-ons. Kounde has also agreed to personal terms ahead of a move to Stamford Bridge.

He's now set to follow in the footsteps of Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly, who both joined Chelsea earlier this summer.

Jules Kounde will join Chelsea.

After much speculation, this transfer saga may finally be coming to an end.

Following numerous links to Kounde in the early stages of the transfer window, it was claimed that Chelsea shifted their focus away from him and toward Matthijs de Ligt. However, Dutch center-back De Ligt has now joined Bayern Munich from Juventus.

Chelsea's focus appears to be returning to Kounde, who has seen his reputation grow significantly in Sevilla over the last few seasons.

He's a ball-playing center-back who Blues manager Tuchel could use in a back three. He also has the versatility to play full-back.

What a start in the transfer market for the new Chelsea ownership if the Kounde deal is completed.

Sterling, Koulibaly, and Kounde are three high-profile players who all contribute to the starting lineup.

It's critical that the starting lineup improves in order to close the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool, which these new faces will undoubtedly help with.

Jesus has had an incredible start to his Arsenal career and already appears to be a great long-term investment. He has three goals in two preseason games.

He scored twice in Arsenal's 5-3 win over Nurnberg a week ago, including one within two minutes of his arrival. He then scored in Arsenal's 2-0 win over Premier League rivals Everton to kick off their tour of America.

Arsenal have already spent heavily in preparation for Arteta's goal of qualifying for the Champions League for the first time since 2016. Jesus is part of a £90 million deal that also includes the signings of Porto playmaker Fabio Vieira, New England goalkeeper Matt Turner, and Sao Paulo teen winger Marquinhos.
