The government's efforts to bring the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum up to a level befitting her father, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, have been praised by Samia Nkrumah, daughter of Ghana's first president.

"I appreciate that it's taking place under a leadership that isn't widely regarded as being very supportive of Kwame Nkrumah, and this shows that this is a generation that wants to advance for the good of the nation.

This is more evidence that our generation wants to put Ghana first, mend the wounds of the past, and make the most of any opportunity that may boost our financial situation and improve our standing internationally, she added.

During the formal sod-cutting ceremony for the rehabilitation and modernization of the mausoleum in Accra yesterday[July 19, 2022], Ms. Nkrumah made this statement in an interview with the Daily Graphic.

Due to the park's decline, it is no longer appealing to tourists, making it unable to earn enough income to support and maintain itself. Therefore, it was shut down on May 27 of this year until further notice for extensive remodelling work.

The renovation projects, which will take nine months to complete, are being funded by the government with the help of the World Bank Tourism Development Project.

The projects include the construction of a new training centre, a restaurant, a VVIP lounge, an artistic freedom wall, and a music and light installation. Appreciation

"I'm here on behalf of the family, and we appreciate this effort and are really delighted. I am aware that the President's support and approval were necessary for this to occur," Ms. Nkrumah stated.

"I'm glad we've all come together to acknowledge Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's significance. This isn't about supporting a certain political party; rather, it's about recognising the contributions of our African heroes. Nkrumah is known as the father of Ghana everywhere, so I'm sure my father would be pleased that we are using his name, ideas, and words to promote Ghana, she continued.

She believed that the improvement would inspire the following generation to work harder in order to realise the nation's ideal.

She firmly believed that honouring and remembering all significant heroes and heroines, as well as enhancing the locations where they are commemorated, would advance both tourism and the overall growth of the nation.
