GHANAIANS ARE MORE TILTED TOWARDS THE NPP – JUSTIN FRIMPONG KODUA

According to Justin Frimpong Kodua, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) newly-elected general secretary, a review of the margins by which the NPP and the NDC have both won and lost elections shows that Ghanaians are typically more inclined to support the NPP.

In contrast to the National Democratic Congress, he claimed, the NPP often wins elections by wide majorities and loses them by similarly narrow ones.

Since 2000, NPP has consistently lost elections by extremely narrow margins, but has consistently won them by larger margins.

For instance, in the second round of the 2000 presidential election, President Kufuor received 56.9 percent of the vote. In the 2008 elections, the NDC won with 50.23 percent of the vote. They won with 50.7 percent; in 2016, when NPP was winning the polls, we won with 53.72 percent; and in 2020, when we were winning the election, we won with 51.30 percent.

The research was conducted because, at least from 2000 and 2020, the NDC had trouble winning elections in Ghana; by contrast, our margins of victory were consistently large. Therefore, it shows you that Ghanaians are somewhat or more biassed in favour of the NPP because it is challenging for the NPP to lose elections, he stated on JoyNews' PM Express.

He asserts that this study is extremely important right now, as the NPP's newest leaders start planning their strategies for the future elections in 2024.

He acknowledged that the effort may be herculean, but he and his colleagues are determined to work well with the administration to give Ghanaians optimism before the 2024 elections, notwithstanding how difficult it may be.

In light of that, he stated, "what we need to do from now till 2024 is to make sure that we offer Ghanaians hope for them to grasp the circumstance that we find ourselves in."
