Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a North Tongu member of parliament, has honoured the late Professor John Evans Atta Mills, who passed away on July 24, 2012, while serving as president of Ghana.
On Thursday, July 21, 2022, the late Professor celebrated his 78th birthday and Mr. Ablakwa praised him as an admirable and uncorruptible leader.
On the solemn occasion of Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills' 78th birthday, the third President of the Fourth Republic, Mr. Ablakwa, who served as Professor Mills' deputy minister of information, wrote in a tweet on Thursday, "We honour his memory & accord him all the dignity that incorruptible & outstanding leader deserves. Your legacy would always stand taller than selfishness and conflict.
His remarks come at a time when the Coastal Development Authority (CoDA), Koku Anyidoho, the Executive Director of the Atta Mills Memorial Institute, and the family of Professor Mills are at odds over allegations that the professor's tomb has been vandalised.
Sam Atta Mills, the brother of Professor Mills, charged Koku Anyidoho and the CoDA on Tuesday, July 19, of tampering with the tomb.
"The Coastal Development Authority and an organisation going by the name of Atta Mills Institute that the family doesn't even know have gone to disturb President John Evans Atta Mills' burial. The tomb has been dismantled, but they insist that they are reconstructing it, according to Komenda-Edina-Eguafo Abirem, a member of parliament.
"My question is that, we have a family tradition," he continued. Is the corpse still within the grave now that they have touched it? whose body is it? Why do you want to handle the body without first telling the family head? Whose authority is this?
"Why do they want us to experience sadness forever? Why is the government allowing this to happen when he was a previous president? The family and the country are being insulted by this.
However, in response to him, Koku Anyidoho tweeted, "Sammy Atta-Mills alleges I took President Atta-Mills' body??
Is it illegal to replace the filthy black cardboard that shabbily surrounded President Atta-Mills' tomb with granite stones? Is it illegal to replace the filthy black cardboard that shabbily surrounded President Atta-Mills' tomb with granite stones? Sammy Atta-Mills may be referring to curses. His hideous skull must bear the curses. John Dramani Mahama ought to hang his head in shame for failing to construct Asomdwee Park.
