Barcelona announce Robert Lewandowski signing and set eye-watering £426million release clause for former Bayern Munich man
Robert Lewandowski’s move from Bayern Munich to Barcelona is now officially a done deal. The star striker has been a major transfer target for the Spanish giants this summer and, after protracted talks, Barca manager Xavi has finally got his man. GETTY Lewandowski has got his preferred move to Barcelona But Barcelona’s spending this summer has baffled Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann. He said: “It is the only club in the world that have no money, but then buy all the players they want. I don’t know how they do it. It’s a bit strange, a bit crazy.” Barcelona revealed Lewandowski, who has signed a four-year deal, joins on a €45million (around £38m), plus €5m (around £4.2m) in add-ons. A hefty release clause has been placed on the Poland captain, who turns 34 in August, Barca setting it at €500 million (around £425m). Lewandowski said goodbye to his Bayern teammates on Friday before meeting up with his new colleagues in Miami on Sunday, with Barcelona currently on tour in America. Barca’s statement read: “FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich have arrived at an agreement for the transfer of Robert Lewandowski for a total of €45 million + €5 million in variables. “The player will sign a contract with the Club for the next four seasons. The buyout clause has been set at €500 million. “Lewandowski arrived in Miami on Sunday and met his new teammates.
