Torino offer Jason Denayer €2m salary and open talks with Oumar Solet
As reported by Ignazio Genuardi, Belgian centre-back Jason Denayer is close to joining Italian club Torino as a free agent after leaving Lyon this summer at the end of his contract in June. The Serie A side have offered the 27-year-old defender a two year deal in Italy, with the option for another further season, while the deal includes a salary of roughly €2m net per year. The player’s wage demands had been the main stumbling block in his contract talks with OL last season while Rennes, having opened talks this summer too, also struggled to agree a deal with the player. Torino, however, still face competition to sign Denayer from Turkish clubs and the Italian side are also speaking with another former Lyon defender, Oumar Solet, now of Red Bull Salzburg, over joining the club this summer as they search for a replacement for Brazilian defender Bremer who recently left to join Juventus. Transfer news LIVE as Rangers and Celtic plus Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs eye signings
There isn't much time to prepare for one of the biggest games of the season when you are involved in Champions League qualifiers. But it's always been the way for Scottish clubs. Giovanni van Bronckhorst experienced it as a player - helping the Ibrox club to one of their most famous European wins against Parma - and now he must do it as a manager. That's why he hasn't wasted any of the little time he has with a signing spree after a slow start in the market. But with the Union Saint-Gilloise looming, he could do with more. And Turkish international Ridvan Yilmaz is one player who is very much on Rangers' radar with reports in his homeland saying a bid has been made for the Besiktas left back who appears keen to join the Glasgow giants. He would compete for the left back spot vacated by Calvin Bassey while Ben Davies can play in the central role. Ange Postecoglou looked to one of his old Down Under stars to keep Celtic on top with Aaron Mooy arriving this week after playing for the Parkhead gaffer for Australia while Moritz Jenz also signed from Lorient on loan. The focus could turn to offloading fringe men at Parkhead with the likes of Albian Ajeti and Christopher Jullien dropping down the pecking order. Aberdeen and Hibs are said to be fighting it out for Fleetwood attacker Shayden Morris, with both clubs looking to replace key men Josh Doig and Lewis Ferguson. Meanwhile Hearts have announced Lawrence Shankland as Robbie Neilson reunites with his former Dundee United striker.
