Darko Lazović close to Marseille move
Marseille look set to secure the signing of Hellas Verona midfielder Darko Lazović (31). An agreement is already in place with the player, according to Fabrizio Romano. Serbian international Lazović is well known to new Marseille manager Igor Tudor. He was a mainstay in Tudor’s Hellas Verona side last season, as he made 34 Serie A appearances, scoring once and registering seven assists. Romano is reporting that negotiations are at “the final stage” and are set to be completed this week. Lazović, who has also spent time at Red Star Belgrade and Genoa, is accustomed to playing at left-midfield, although he can also provide cover on the right-hand side. Once terms are agreed with Hellas Verona, his move should be quickly completed with terms between the player and the Ligue 1 side already agreed upon. He is set to become Marseille’s eighth arrival of the summer as the side look to add depth to their squad ahead of a packed calendar, which will include Champions League football. GFFN
Exclusive: Milan want Marseille winger to replace Watford-bound Niang
2017-25-01 - 15:50 It looks like it’s official: Milan winger M’Baye Niang is very close to moving to Watford and, despite signing Gerard Deulofeu from Everton, the Serie A club is looking for a replacement. Our sources tell us that they’re negotiating with Genoa to nab Lucas Ocampos, who is currently on loan from Marseille. He’s the big name the Rossoneri want, though the alternative is team-mate Darko Lazovic, who has been one of Serie A’s most dangerous full-backs this season. Otherwise, Emanuele Giaccherini is being linked to the San Siro side, though the connection is admittedly far more tenuous. The Rossoneri have grown gradually disenchanted with Niang over the last few months, something we hinted at on a few occasions. The 22-year-old Frenchman will join the Hornets on a loan-to-buy arrangement worth €1 million, before moving to Watford for €16 million next summer. With the former Caen man seemingly inclined to agree, it looks like Walter Mazzarri is to add a precious new jewel to his crown. Daniele Longo, (@86_longo), adapted by @EdoDalmonte
