Darwin Nunez was the standout performer as Liverpool thrashed RB Leipzig in a pre-season friendly on Thursday night.

Liverpool took the lead in the first half through Mohamed Salah before Reds manager Jurgen Klopp introduced Nunez at halftime. However, Liverpool were also fortunate to go into the break ahead after prolific striker Christopher Nkunku tested Adrian in the Reds' goal.

Before Nunez stole the show, Naby Keita missed a couple of chances for his team. Mirror Football has all of the game's major talking points.

Jurgen Klopp has given his verdict on Darwin Nunez, who has finally begun his Anfield career.

The Uruguayan had struggled in his previous two pre-season games, failing to score against Manchester United and Crystal Palace. However, after Nunez scored four goals against RB Leipzig, Klopp praised his forward, admitting that he may have felt pressured as a result of his big-money move, but that "that's the best way obviously to stop all these discussions.

He also stated that Nunez is "a different striker to what we have or had," implying that Klopp may believe he brings different qualities to his team than Sadio Mane did prior to his move to Bayern Munich.

Ibrahima Konate was one of only a few Liverpool players who did not shine in the 5-0 thrashing of RB Leipzig.

The Frenchman appeared vulnerable to counter-attacks, and his sloppy touch let in reigning Bundesliga player of the year Christopher Nkunku, who came close to equalizing near the end of the first half. Darwin Nunez took advantage of Roberto Firmino's opportunity to impress in the first team and potentially take the Brazilian's starting spot.

However, the Reds had plenty of winners in addition to star striker Nunez. Salah scored once again, and he will be hoping to continue his goal-scoring form this season.

And Harvey Elliot shone when he set up Nunez's hat-trick. Mirror Football has compiled a list of the night's winners and losers.
