Last season was a breakout season for some young players, while it was business as usual for others. Several young players made an impression for their respective clubs during the 2021/22 season. The majority of the players who stood out were attacking players who were 21 or younger at the start of the season.
Vinicius, a Madrid attacker, was the most impressive U21 player last season. The Brazilian had his best season at Real Madrid, spearheading the club's attack alongside Benzema. Last season, he was Madrid's second-highest goal scorer, helping the club win the Spanish La Liga and the club's 14th Champions League title. He scored the game-winning goal in Madrid's 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the final.
Vinicius Junior scored 22 goals and provided 20 assists in 52 games last season, making him the best U21 player in Europe in terms of goal contributions.
Erling Haaland, a current Manchester City player, was Europe's second-best U21 player last season. Despite missing most of last season due to injury, the Norwegian star managed to score 27 goals and provide 5 assists in 29 games.

Conte (R) admits that the season will be difficult, but that Tottenham must strive to improve. Daniel Levy, INSET
Antonio Conte tittered with delight at the mere mention of winning the title. You want to win the championship, he said, his eyes wide and his grin even wider. Yes, I understand, but I'm also realistic.
Tottenham have been champions for 61 years and counting. In that time, thirteen different teams have claimed the prize. The other five members of what is now known as England's "Big Six" have all won it this century.
He did it with Juventus to reestablish pride following a scandal and relegation. He accomplished this in his first season as manager of Chelsea, who finished 10th and 31 points behind the leaders the previous season.
He most recently did it in his second season with Inter Milan, ending Juventus' nine-year reign.
Juventus had a 20-point lead over Inter for many, many years, according to Conte. "We closed the gap in the first season." We won the second season, but there was only one team to fight in Italy.
There are numerous teams here. Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City Chelsea won the Champions League last year and the Club World Cup this year.
It will be a difficult and exciting season, but we must push ourselves and strive to improve. To improve in all situations that may lead to us becoming competitive in the near future.
The Italian is attempting to manage expectations. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has responded to Conte's demands for reinforcements after the club finished the season in good form and qualified for the Champions League by finishing fourth.
"My goal is to be competitive," he said. "My goal is for the other teams to be worried rather than scared when they play against Tottenham," this is our goal.
